2 policemen killed, 2 battling for life in Spanish Town shootout

Two Jamaican policemen were shot and killed in the vicinity of Horizon Park, Spanish Town area early Friday morning.

Two others including a top ranked policeman were also injured and is said to be battling for life.

A heavy police/military presence is now being maintained in area where the police engaged the gunmen in a shootout.

The Caribbean Globe understands that lawmen were ambushed as while driving through the area they were attacked by men with high powered weapons.

The superintendent now battling for life we understand got eight shots, including one to the face.

Video clips of an overturned police service vehicle in the area is now on social media.

The vehicle reportedly overturned while it was being driven to hospital after coming to assist the under-siege cops.

The Jamaica Police Federation has confirmed the incident and has expressed condolences to the relatives of the deceased cops.
