New York based Young, Gifted & Black (YGB) Entrepreneurial Awards have selected Rodney Price aka Bounty Killer as a nominee for the 2019 YGB Reggae Music Entertainment ICON Award, Carl O. Gray, President-CEO, The NetLinkz Group, Inc. & Founder, YGB Entrepreneurial Awards said recently.

The annual award function which takes place during Black History Month each year has over the past 14 years honored “Unsung Heroes & Heroines” within the Diaspora community.

In a letter to Price, Gray said, “I look forward to presenting this award and having you join our list of honorees, friends & supporters to the YGB Entrepreneurial Program, whom you may be familiar with such as: (Honoree/Alumni) Tony Rebel & Richie Stephens, Gary Foster (Upliftment Jamaica), Robert “Bobby” Clarke (Irie Jam Media), Dee Jay Roy (Road International), David “Squeeze” Annakie (LinkUp Radio), Dahved Levy (WBLS radio) and Damion Crawford (Former Minister of State – Ministry Of Tourism) to name a few.”

The elated “Poor People’s Governor’ in an Instagram post which has racked up over five thousand likes said, “Another nomination. To be honored at the YGB award ceremony in NYC 2019 for an Icon award. It’s always a honor to be honored whilst still being alive and especially by ur own folks that knows ur journey. I’m humbly thankful with much appreciation. Black Excellence.”

Among those sending congratulatory messages for Price were Professor Donna Hope, who said, “Real dancehall General. Continue to inspire.”

Singer Richie Stephens, who has recorded songs like ‘Manic,’ ‘Bad Boys,’ ‘Out Cry’ and ‘Magnet’ with Price said, “Hold dem Rodney. Rewards and awards coming in for for the years of work.”

Charly Black, who garnered international acclaim in 2016 with his hit song ‘Party Animal’ said, ” Nuff more to forward General.”

The annual black tie awards, dinner and reception takes place on Wednesday, February 27th, 2019 in New York City.
