Caroling

As the big day draws closer, the memories of Christmases of long ago keep coming in like a flood. The absence of those things that were once staples, make it easy for my mind to linger and dwell on those fond memories.

The last five days before Christmas one could relax in their bed, listening to the sweet melodic sounds of carolers singing songs such as Silent Night, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks by Night, and yes, from gate to gate they would make a stop.

My parents would go outside and give a donation, but of course that wasn’t the primary motivation.

The cool early morning breeze was not a deterrent and no one thought about any danger lurking around the corner.

This Christmas… oh how I wonder if it will be a very special Christmas…. Caroling anyone?
