Ajauni, Son of Dancehall Legend Baby Wayne, Creating His Own Legacy

Ajauni, son of dancehall great Baby Wayne, one of the rulers of the 90s known for classic anthems such as Mi Know Mi Fren, Warder, and the 1991 monster hit Mama, intends to keep his father’s legacy alive while creating his own.

The emerging star, whose given name is Ajaunie Hibbert, also credits his mother, Cerita Albert, a member of the Riddim 2000 band, for her influence. Compelled to become an accomplished entertainer, Ajauni has been steadily carving out his niche on the local music scene, despite facing a myriad of challenges as an inner-city youth, including losing both his father and stepfather at a young age.

Intent on making his mark within the international annals, the release of his buzzworthy 2020 track Liu Kang and last year’s  Weh Mi Name has music fans wanting to know more about the young entertainer. His efforts have gained him the acknowledgement of stalwarts, Bounty Killer and Popcaan.

Not wanting to rely solely on his famous father’s name as a springboard to success, Ajuanie, through sheer talent and determination, has managed to secure projects with dancehall luminaries Jahmiel and Vershon.

Ajauni says having a famous parent does not give you a pass to stardom, citing that the journey to date has been challenging, but he’s not one to complain,

“I honestly can’t complain about my journey. I’m just staying focused; I know what I’m destined for, and I won’t stop until I reach my goals.” – he added.

His latest effort, aptly titled Social Distance, is steadily gaining momentum and is now available on all major digital and streaming platforms.

Ajauni says part of his continued drive is aspiring to be a Grammy-Award winner and performer one day.
