American arrested after gun, ammunition found in container in Dominica

A 40-foot container that had been kept on the grounds of a church in Mahuat, which is located west of the island, was discovered to contain a gun and numerous rounds of ammunition, according to police in Dominica, and an American has been detained as a result.

“Members of the Anti-Crime Task Force of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF), along with investigators from the Unit of the Customs & Excise Division, executed a search warrant at the residence of Jason James Groog, a male adult of Indiana in the USA who resides in Belfast in Dominica,” police inspector Fixton Henderson reported.

He claimed that when the officers investigated the container, which was in Grogg’s custody, they took a Glock 9mm pistol as well as a significant amount of 9mm and 20mm ammunition for further examination.

Four M16 magazines, each holding 30 rounds of ammo, and 17 rounds of 20-gauge ammunition were discovered and collected for further examination, according to Henderson.

According to the police, Groog and two of his family members have subsequently been detained on suspicion of trafficking weapons and ammunition.
