Anti-corruption probe in Haiti reveals high-ranking government officials involved in crimes including diverting funds meant for school children’s food and misusing government fuel.
The corruption cases uncovered cost the government £3.5 million, more than double the budget allocated to fight corruption.
One official admitted to using agency funds for personal benefit. Another case exposed fake providers in a national food program.
The Anti-Corruption Unit director-general continues to pursue illegal activities despite minimal consequences for the accused. Diplomats and other officials are also under scrutiny for failing to declare their assets.
