The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) announced the election of Barbados as its new Chairman for the next two years. The election, which occurred during the CTO’s Ministerial Council meeting in the Cayman Islands, aligns with the organization’s annual State of the Tourism Industry Conference.

Ian Gooding-Edghill, Minister of Tourism and International Transport for Barbados, will take on the position of Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Commissioners of Tourism, while Andrea Franklin, CEO of Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., will serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Barbados succeeds the Cayman Islands in this leadership role. Outgoing chair, the Cayman Islands, under the guidance of Minister of Tourism and Ports Kenneth Bryan and Director of Tourism Rosa Harris, achieved notable milestones during their tenure, including the election of a new Secretary General and CEO, Dona Regis-Prosper.

Incoming Chairman Ian Gooding-Edghill expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the CTO and emphasized the collaborative effort needed to further the organization’s goals. During the transition, members lauded Minister Bryan and Director Harris for their dedication and vision that have enhanced the CTO’s standing and paved the way for continued success under new leadership.

The CTO, with its headquarters in Barbados, is committed to positioning the Caribbean as a premier year-round destination and advancing sustainable tourism practices. Offering a range of support services to its members, the CTO plays a pivotal role in driving tourism growth and development in the region.
