Bob Marley Inspires Jamaica’s Kits Ahead of World Cup

Bob Marley is a symbol of Jamaica, embodying its culture and musical heritage even decades after his death. To honor him, Jamaica’s new kit collection, created by adidas and the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) in collaboration with the Bob Marley Foundation, will debut in March. The Reggae Boyz will wear these kits as they aim for a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The designs feature the national flag’s colors—green, black, and yellow—and celebrate Marley’s global impact. The yellow home jersey reflects Marley’s 1970s style, with patterns inspired by his iconic crocheted wear and music imagery. The black away shirt showcases Jamaica’s rhythmic identity with vibrant designs and symbols like records and sound waves, along with a nod to Marley’s Tuff Gong label.

The collection includes Marley’s silhouette and his motto, “Football is freedom,” on the drop tag, with support from his grandson, Skip Marley, in a tribute video. Jamaica must win two matches in March to secure a World Cup spot, facing New Caledonia on March 26 and, if successful, DR Congo on March 31. The winner will join Group K with Portugal, Uzbekistan, and Colombia.
