Leon Bailey Returns to Jamaica’s National Senior Team

Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey has been named in Steve McLaren’s 23-man squad for Jamaica’s upcoming Nations League matches against Cuba and Honduras in September.

Jamaica Football Federation President, Michael Ricketts, confirmed that Bailey has submitted a letter declaring his commitment and availability to play for the national team.

Bailey, 27, has not played for the Reggae Boyz since November 2023 due to a suspension from former Head Coach Heimir Hallgrimsson and a self-imposed break, during which he declined a call-up for Copa America in June. He was one of Villa’s standout players last season, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists in the Premier League. This helped Villa secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League this season after their strong Premier League finish.

Full Squad:

  • Goalkeepers: Andre Blake, Jahmali Waite, Conniah Boyce-Clarke
  • Defenders: Damion Lowe, Di’Shon Bernard, Ethan Pinnock, Amari’i Bell, Greg Leigh, Richard King, Joel Latibeaudiere
  • Midfielders: Kasey Palmer, Karoy Anderson, Bobby Reid, Jon Russell, Adrian Reid Jr
  • Forwards: Michail Antonio, Leon Bailey, Shamar Nicholson, Demarai Gray, Kaheim Dixon and Norman Campbell
