Former interim national head coach, Paul Hall believes young Reggae Boyz striker Kaheim Dixon is in an ideal environment for his development following his recent move to English League One club Charlton Athletic. Hall is confident that with the right mindset, Dixon has the potential to become a top-class player.
Hall, who played for several prominent clubs in England, including Portsmouth, Walsall, West Bromwich Albion, and Sheffield United, emphasized that Dixon must stay humble and follow his coaches’ guidance to achieve success.
“He’s in a position now where the real hard work begins. He’s very young, and while I haven’t seen enough of him yet, I’m excited by what I have seen,” Hall said. “He needs to learn as much as he can, listen to his coaches, and set goals for himself. Hopefully, he can grow into the player we all believe he can be.”
Hall highlighted the abundance of talent in Jamaica, noting that Dixon is another promising player emerging from the island. “He needs to stay humble, which I know he is, and set clear targets for himself,” Hall emphasized.
Dixon, who turns 20 next month, made his debut for the Reggae Boyz in March during the Concacaf Nations League semi-finals against the United States. So far, he has scored two goals in his 10 appearances for the national team. Before joining Charlton Athletic last month, Dixon led Clarendon College to consecutive ISSA daCosta Cup titles and netted four goals in eight appearances for Arnett Gardens in the Jamaica Premier League last season.
Born in the UK, Hall was part of the Reggae Boyz squad that competed in the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France, starting in all three matches. He earned 48 caps and scored 14 goals for the national team and later served as interim head coach from 2021 to 2022.
Hall praised Charlton Athletic’s reputation for developing young players, which has made it a popular destination for loaned players from top English clubs. He believes Dixon is in the perfect setting to refine his skills before potentially moving to a bigger European club.
