Shenseea, Vybz Kartel, and Collie Buddz are up for the Best Reggae Album at the Grammy Awards happening on February 2, 2025. The included albums are Collie Buddz’s “Take It Easy,” Shenseea’s “Never Gets Late Here,” Vybz Kartel’s “Party With Me,” the soundtrack “Bob Marley: One Love – Music Inspired By the Film,” and The Wailers’ “Evolution.” This is the second time around for Collie Buddz and The Wailers while it’s Vybz Kartel’s first time being nominated, especially after just getting out of prison. The soundtrack from Bob Marley’s movie is likely going to be a tough contender with all the famous artists involved.
The Grammy folks have changed some rules this year about featured artists; now if you do less than half of the work on an album you’ll get a Winners’ Certificate instead. The nominees were picked after some first-round voting back in mid-October, and the final votes will happen from December 12, 2024, to January 3, 2025. This year, they’re also adding the Harry Belafonte Best Song for Social Change Award to honor the legend who had ties to Jamaica. The whole show will be live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and they’re hosting a pre-show too.
