The legendary Stone Love Movements made history on September 5 by launching “The Marley Brothers: The Legacy Tour” with an electrifying set that lit up the Festival Lawn at Deer Lake Park in Vancouver, Canada.
For more than 50 years, Stone Love has been a cornerstone of reggae and dancehall culture, and they brought that energy to the stage, kicking off a 22-date tour across the US and Canada featuring all five Marley brothers—Ziggy, Stephen, Julian, Ky-Mani, and Damian—performing together for the first time in two decades.
As the sole opening act on the tour, Stone Love’s presence honors its pioneering role in sound system culture and its ability to bridge generations of reggae fans. Led by selector Geefus, the crowd was immersed in a powerful blend of classic reggae hits and modern dancehall tracks, setting the perfect tone for the Marley brothers’ monumental reunion. The iconic call of “Traffficccccc” echoed through the venue, creating an exhilarating vibe that merged the best of the old and new.
Reflecting on the experience, Geefus shared, “This tour is a blessing, and it feels like everything has come full circle. To be part of something so legendary—sharing the stage with the Marley brothers and spreading Bob Marley’s music—is deeply nostalgic. The energy on opening night was unforgettable, and it’s just the beginning. Performing in front of nearly 10,000 people, many of whom already knew Stone Love, was pure vibes.”
Geefus added, “It’s all about creating that hyped-up experience. My slogan, ‘Traffficccccc,’ speaks to how reggae-dancehall culture creates a roadblock of energy, which draws in younger generations. We work closely with artists to keep that energy fresh for new listeners. Bob Marley’s music continues to resonate worldwide, and his children and grandchildren are carrying on his great legacy. Being part of this tour as pioneers of sound system culture is an honor. Stone Love Movements, founded by Winston ‘Wee Pow’ Powell, has had a connection with the Marley family since the ‘90s, and it’s a privilege to represent Jamaican music globally.”
With over 50 years of shaping the global sound of reggae and dancehall, Stone Love’s involvement in The Marley Brothers: The Legacy Tour highlights the profound connection between sound system culture and reggae’s global influence.
As Bob Marley’s 80th birthday approaches in 2025, his sons pay tribute to their father’s legacy by performing a blend of their own hits and his timeless classics. Stone Love’s performances underscore their lasting influence and amplify the ongoing mission to spread Bob Marley’s message of strength, hope, and unity through the power of reggae music.
