Top scorer Khadija Shaw hits Man City Women’s winner

A great Sunday for Jamaican footballers in Britain was topped by Khadija “Bunny” Shaw’s game-winning goal as Manchester City defeated West Ham United 1-0 in a Women’s Super League (WSL) match at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

Five minutes after the interval, the WSL’s leading scorer and Spanish-born Shaw increased her goal total to nine for the season, moving fourth-place City closer to the Champions League spots by three points. After a winter break, play will resume this weekend.

Shaw was put through on goal by Deyna Castellanos’ excellent first-time pass, and the Reggae Girl calmly went around Hammers goalie Mackenzie Arnold to score.

Later, as the game was spent primarily in the West Ham half, Shaw saw a stabbing effort deflect off the post, and Castellanos was stopped by a good reaction save from Arnold.
