Twitter relaunching subscriber service after debacle

After a month, Twitter is relaunching its premium service. Twitter said Saturday that users may buy Twitter Blue memberships to acquire a blue checkmark and other benefits starting Monday. The site gave the blue checkmark to verified companies, celebrities, government bodies, and journalists.

After buying Twitter for US$44 billion in October, Elon Musk introduced a US$8-a-month blue check service. Twitter terminated the service days after its launch due to counterfeit accounts, including Tesla and SpaceX impersonators. Web users will pay US$8 and iPhone users US$11.

Twitter promises fewer advertisements, longer videos, and more prominent tweets.
