U-17 Reggae Boyz eliminated by Guatemala in round of 16

The young Reggae Boyz were eliminated from the Concacaf Under-17 Championship on Saturday night after falling to the host nation Guatemala 2-1 at the Stadium Mateo Flores.

Salvin Sagastume’s goal for Guatemala gave the young Reggae Boyz a 1-0 halftime deficit after scoring in the 32nd minute.

In the 55th minute, a stunning free kick from Ronaldo Barrett brought the Merron Gordon-coached squad even.

However, in the 77th minute, captain Ahir Dixon of Guatemala scored the game-winning goal.

The United States will now play Guatemala in the quarterfinals, with the winner advancing to one of the four semifinalists and securing a spot in the Under-17 World Cup.
