Mason Greenwood ‘rejects’ chance to play for Jamaica

According to reports, Greenwood declined the opportunity to represent Jamaica.

Representatives from United have spoken with the forward as part of an ongoing internal inquiry, thus his future with the club is also up in the air.

Dennis Chung, the secretary general of the Jamaica Football Federation, stated last month that if Greenwood decided to change his nationality, they would welcome him.

According to reports, the 21-year-old forward is still optimistic that he can save his England career.

The claims of alleged rape and abuse against Greenwood, 21, led to his arrest in January 2022. A short while later, Manchester United suspended him with full pay.

The probe was started by United after the charges were withdrawn last month.

The 21-year-old has a number of choices available to him, including cancelling his contract. But, other reports claim that the possibility of reintroducing Greenwood to the first team squad as part of a potential gradual comeback to football is also being examined.

If he were to stay at the club, United would apparently undertake a progressive process that would at various points consider the opinions of supporter organisations, sponsors, and the United women’s team.
