Spice and Music expert Noel Cymone Walker defends Dancehall image

Spice, the Queen of Dancehall, recently defended the genre against critics who believe it is hyper-sexualized. In an interview for Black Music Month, Spice argued that Dancehall is merely a cultural expression and should be understood in that context.

While sex and sexuality have been explored in the genre, Spice and music expert Noel Cymone Walker emphasized that this is part of the creative expressiveness of Dancehall and not necessarily hyper-sexualization.

Spice also differentiated between Dancehall and traditional Reggae music, with Dancehall being a more high-energy and expressive type of music. The 40-year-old artist attributed her success to consistency and smart work.
