SVG records 2 COVID deaths amidst uptick in cases

For the first time in months, St. Vincent and the Grenadines have reported two additional COVID-19 deaths.

The deaths occur amid an escalation in incidents, which, according to the National Emergency Management Organization’s (NEMO) Health Services Sub Committee, is reflective of similar rises in North America and the United Kingdom.

Two vaccinated patients died on December 14, bringing the total number of COVID-19 fatalities in SVG to 108.

The Milton Cato Memorial Hospital’s isolation ward saw the deaths of a 73-year-old woman and an 82-year-old man who both had pre-existing ailments and were completely immunised in 2021.

The number of active cases increased to 32 as a result of the confirmation of 22 additional cases for the reporting period of December 9 to 16.

To ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable Christmas in 2022, the Ministry of Health, Wellness, and the Environment is urging people to take all necessary precautions.
