Guyana secures cryotherapy machines to help fight cervical cancer

Health Minister, Dr Frank Anthony hands over the cryotherapy machines to Director, Non-Communicable Diseases Programme of the Health Ministry, Dr Latchmie Lall

To aid in the treatment and prevention of female cervical cancer, the Health Ministry has purchased 20 cryotherapy devices that will be distributed throughout the nation.

The Chronic Diseases Unit received the equipment, which will aid in reducing the backlog of patients in need of such care.

The director of the ministry’s non-communicable diseases programme, Dr. Latchmie Lall, expressed her appreciation for the supplies.

The equipment comes at a good moment, according to Dr. Ertensia Hamilton, Director of Primary Healthcare Services, as the ministry expands its services for women of reproductive age across the nation.

Cervical cancer, the second most common malignancy among women in the nation, is treated holistically, according to Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony.

People are being urged by Minister Anthony to acquire the HPV vaccine and be checked for the illness.
