Before the end of the 2022–2023 fiscal year, the Ministry of Agriculture, Marine Resources, and Family Island Affairs plan to unveil two 40-foot containerized farms, one for Eleuthera and one for Abaco. Additionally, Minister of Agriculture, Marine Resources, and Family Island Affairs Clay Sweeting announced that his ministry would also open greenhouse parks across the nation to grow leafy greens and vegetables all year long.

Sweeting said the ministry has also invested in the crops at the Gladstone Road Agricultural Centre during his presentation to the mid-year budget debate.

He argued that greenhouses and vertical farming would be employed to boost and expand the nation’s food production.

Using containerized farming technologies, produce may be grown year-round in a safe setting.

Sweeting added that throughout this fiscal year, additional crops were developed across the nation.

To help The Bahamas achieve greater food security, the government has established a variety of projects and connections. The recent announcement of an egg production plan by the Agriculture ministry is intended to reduce import costs by 1%.
